There are two kinds of spherical roller bearing, one has a cylindrical bore, the others has a tapered bore (K). Spherical bearings offer an unequalled combination of high load capacity, high tolerance to shock loads, and self-aligning ability but they are limited by speed. Spherical rollers are put between the spherical raceway on the outer ring and the two grooves on the inner ring of the bearing.
The symmetrical barrel rollers freely align themselves to the concave outer ring raceway. As a result, shaft deflections and misalignments of the bearing seats are compensated. Double row spherical roller bearings can accommodate high radial and simultaneously also axial loads in both directions. These bearings are massively widespread, particularly in applications where high load accommodation is required and their self-alignment advantage can be best utilized. It is particularly suitable for metallurgy, mining, petroleum, cement....etc (Vibrators, shakers, conveyors, speed reducers, transmissions, and other heavy machinery
